In collaboration with Mariah Carbone in ECOSS, Drew Peltier was awarded a RAPID-NSF grant, “Leveraging an experimental drought on mature trees to study mechanisms of drought mortality and legacies with radiocarbon” (~$197,000 for 1 year). Drew will measure the radiocarbon age of non-structural carbohydrates in pinyon trees experiencing severe drought at the Sevilleta LTER. This work is a collaboration with Amy Trowbridge (UW Madison) and Henry Adams(Oklahoma State) as part of a larger pinyon mortality experiment.
