Emily Palmquist, a student in the Ecological Synthesis Lab, has been watching riparian plants change their morphology and physiology in response to flooding using an experiment at the NAU Greenhouse Complex. Using 250 Pluchea sericea (arrowweed) plants collected from along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon, Emily is testing whether or not climate provenance influences how plants respond to different degrees of flood stress. The experiment will be finishing up the week of September 26.
