The Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI; PI Scott Goetz) launched on December 4 for a 2-year deployment on the International Space Station. This instrument will provide high-resolution Lidar data of temperate and tropical forests and topography, allowing researchers unprecedented insights into the impacts of land-use change on Earth’s carbon and water cycles.
