Six new grants from NSF and NASA will fund climate change research led by members of the GEODE Lab. These new grants span topics ranging from vegetation changes, carbon cycling, fires, heat waves, and caribou populations:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) Jantz &amp; Goetz: NASA Applied Sciences Program, Strengthening Natural Resource Management with New Protected Area Connectivity Tools.\u00a0 Total Amount:\u00a0 $1,181,959\u00a0 (<\/span><b>selected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with funding to start Sept 2021).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) Mack (Ecoss) \/ Goetz &amp; Berner (SICCS):\u00a0 NSF Collaborative Research: Climate warming and increasing wildfire in the boreal forests of Northwestern North America: Will vegetation change slow the feedback?\u00a0 Total Amount:\u00a0 $1,099,399 (<\/span><b>selected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with funding to start Nov 2021). <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward?AWD_ID=2116862&amp;HistoricalAwards=false\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Public Abstract<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3) Berner &amp; Goetz:\u00a0 NASA Orbiting Carbon Observatory: Diagnosing and attributing Arctic-Boreal carbon fluxes using in situ and satellite CO2 monitoring network.\u00a0 Total Amount: $92,579\u00a0 (<\/span><b>selected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with funding to start Aug 2021).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4) Berner &amp; Goetz:\u00a0 NSF Collaborative Research: Fate of the Caribou &#8211; Populations and Distributions in the New Arctic.\u00a0 Total Amount: $717,941 (<\/span><b>selected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with funding to start Nov 2021).
